Reactions from the Players

Some interesting quotes from Tommy Hunter and Wei-Yin Chen, following wins on Saturday and Tuesday.

Tommy Hunter, following the Orioles 5-4 win over the Angels on Saturday:

It’s guys stepping up, that's what this team is about. It's about guys getting an opportunity and guys seizing it. You can go back to last year, you can go to this year. You can go back. This team is here and we are not going anywhere.

Hunter once again spoke up after the Orioles defeated the Royals 4-3 on Tuesday, regarding the Orioles ability to play all 27 outs:

Nobody should ever leave the stadium, I’ll tell you that much, under any circumstances.

Wei-Yin Chen, through his interpretor Tim, had this to say after the Orioles 4-3 win on Tuesday:

It’s not about if I was feeling happy or not happy. I just want to keep helping the team, do my job, keep my team in the ballgame. And keep winning the ballgame.

Motivation

"You have to understand how this team operates," said closer Jim Johnson, one of three All-Stars on last year's squad. "We don't really pay much attention. I mean, we hear a couple things -- there was some motivation given to us by a former Red Sox manager last year, so we hear some things -- but we don't really care what anybody says. We know what we have to do to get ready for the season and what it takes to get to where we want to be at the end of the season."

The motto of the underdog.  We know it all too well from the Stompers.
