Orioles sign 27-year-old Relief Pitcher Edgmer Escalona

Escalona, who's listed at 6 foot 4, 235 pounds, has made headlines in the past for a few transgressions.

Back in early April, Escalona was involved in a scuffle with Colorado pitcher Juan Nicasio during stretching exercises at Coors Field, and they needed to be separated by teammates. The Rockies were conducting a workout in front of fans.

Escalona was suspended in 2011 for fighting with his manager in the Venezuela Winter League, and again in 2012 for doctoring a baseball with a foreign substance during a game with Triple-A Colorado Springs.

According to reports, Escalona was caught rubbing his fingers on a foreign substance on his left forearm.

OK, so the guy's a bit of a character. Could be fun to cover.

At the very least, if there is one manager who can handle trouble, it's Buck.

Stock Picks - Edition #3 (June 5th, 2013)

The long overdue 3rd addition of Orioles stock picks is here!  Jason Pridie continues to rake (and wait).  Tom Boleska calls it quits.  Henry Urrutia shows that Yasiel Puig is not the only Cuban baseball player turning heads in the United States.  Jim Johnson struggles, Chris Dickerson is clutch, and more inside!

The Orioles Ever Evolving Starting Rotation

The Orioles rotation is once again unsettled, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.  The search for a 5th starter and injury to Miguel Gonzalez provide opportunities for the O's to get a look at other potential starting pitching candidates while upcoming days off provide the option of a temporary 4-man rotation.
