Happy Non-Tender Day

Dan Duquette has been up front about the team tendering contracts to all existing 40 man roster players, including Steve Pearce, Nolan Reimold, and Troy Patton.  From a fan perspective, the more interesting aspect of the 5 pm deadline is who will be non-tendered by other teams.

The most interesting person to me is Seth Smith, since he could fit the LF/DH lefty role, possibly platooning with Reimold or another right handed hitter.  With the Winter Meetings next week, this should be the last big run of news through Christmas.  With no actual baseball around, the Winter Meetings are a bright spot during the long winter.

[Road to 90 Wins] Buck and the Birds Take Down the Yankees

"' 'I know what you are doing.' Yelling it, body language and pointing at me and stuff and that was it. I'm a grown man, no one is going to yell at me on a baseball field. I just said, 'You don't know anything and you don't even know me to be yelling at me."

- 3rd Base Coach Bobby Dickerson on Joe Girardi

Joe Girardi made an ass out of himself.  CC Sabathia struggled and was quite frankly lucky to get through seven innings with only four runs allowed.  Yankee fans started "Let's Go Yankees" chants at odd times.

In other words, nothing really unexpected.

With every additional outing, Chris Tillman solidifies his position as a true top of the rotation starter.  Tillman's pitching and some aggressive base running powered the Orioles to a 4-1 victory over New York.

The Birds secured another big win on Saturday, this time using some of that left over 2012 Orioles magic.  Down to their final out in the 10th inning, the O's got a big hit from Matt Wieters that drove in the tying and go ahead runs in the form of Chris Dickerson and Nick Markakis.  The hit gave the Birds a 4-3 win and their third straight win versus Chicago.
